However, the primary web site consisted of static pages that were costly and time-intensive to maintain. The agency considered moving to a database-driven web site, since it would help them not only display the most timely information, but also help them make changes and move them through the approval process more easily. However, the agency lacked the design expertise necessary to give the project its best chance of success.
Excella then helped the agency decide on the system architecture and component model that would be the foundation for the design and implementation phases. Finally, Excella performed a detailed design of the component model, including the creation of various UML diagrams, such as class, sequence, activity, and state diagrams. By the end of the engagement, Excella had delivered a comprehensive set of use cases and an extensive system design so that the agency could confidently embark on the development phase.
