Excella Leads the PMI Agile Charge

Surprised to see “Agile” and “PMI” in the same phrase? You’re not alone. Many organizations are struggling to figure out how to blend Agile’s flexibility with the structure of PMI’s philosophies. Excella is leading the way by actively supporting the launch of a formal Agile community within PMI.

With the growing popularity of Agile, Scrum, and the Project Management Institute (PMI) methodologies, IT project managers and clients alike are increasingly interested in learning where these project approaches overlap, and how the overlap may influence project environments.

The PMI Agile Forum will officially open for business in Q2 of 2009, and will be the leading organization in helping project managers execute Agile and Lean software development methodologies in a manner consistent with PMI philosophies. Excella has been among the first companies to invest in creating this PMI virtual community, designating Jesse Fewell as a formal liaison to the PMI Agile Forum Steering Committee. Excella is also increasing awareness within the industry by sponsoring speaking engagements at a variety of venues, including:

  • APLN Maryland Chapter Meeting (Feb. 24, 2009) - "PMBOK vs. Agile: Sifting Reality from Myth" by Jesse Fewell
  • 2009 Orlando Scrum Gathering (Mar. 18, 2009) - "PMP? ScrumMaster? What's the Difference?" by Jesse Fewell
  • APLN Washington DC Chapter Panel Discussion (Apr. 9, 2009) - "Agile in the Government" with panelist Richard Cheng
  • 2009 PMI Global Congress EMEA, (May 17, 2009) - "Agile Roundtable" with panelist Jesse Fewell
  • PMI Washington DC Chapter Meeting, (June 16, 2009) - "Agile Roundtable" with panelist Richard Cheng
Please join Excella in exploring the emergence of the PMI Agile field.
